@artsychic2000 - I was in Hamilton when I did this video. I now live much further north in Waubaushene - north of Barrie about 50 kms. I bought this unit. It was made by a Chinese firm called Sangli, but they are very hard to get here now due to shipping costs. You pretty much have to buy a container-load to make it worthwhile. When I bought this it was less than $100. If you can find one now, it won't be that cheap. Beware that the quality is not very good. Ken.

@hipofalcon i'm near shelburne ontario. I'm thinking of making one of these with some mirrored plexiglass and the metal lid from my canner. I can make a decent sized one i think. Put one on top of the other in the oven at 200 degrees for about two hours to get the shape i want. Have to cut it in a circle first though. I was also thinking about painting crome auto paint inside a large lid. Not sure that would work.

@artsychic2000 - Shelburne is the wind turbine capitol of southern Ontario. I love driving through there and seeing them. The paint idea won't work, that much I know, so don't waste the time and money. As far as the plexi, it should be OK. Just remember that you will need enough area to produce sufficient heat energy - 1000 watts per square meter if highly reflective. There are lots of parabola programs on the web too! of all the designs I've seen for solar cookers yours is most impressive, I'd love to know where to get one like it. I've made my own, you reference that you will cook something on it in the future, the video I posted will show food cooking on what I consider to be a lesser system to yours. Based on my experiences in solar cooking that's the right size.

Ya very cool, we are bombarded with solar gamma rays every day might as well be harnessing this free energy to our advantage. Only thing like the guy below said, be careful with coated metals many synthetic materials are cancerous in nature.
