I would simply type "你好吗?" (ni3 hao3 ma2) for "How are you?"
And a simply reply would be, "我很好." (wo3 hen3 hao3), meaning "I am very good."

now say if I wanna say "hello how are you" would I type 你好吗 or 你好你好吗
im kinda confused not knowing what to type as in would I type ni hao ni hao ma or ni hao ma? (learning chinese) kinda confusing to be 11 learning chinese .-.

Well, if you look at the literal meaning it's either "you good", or "you good?", so you kind of just have to choose one. I actually prefer to ask "ze3 me1 yang4", which means what's going on, but I'll make a video on that another time.
