The Conservatives are trying to force reforms on the NHS through at the moment to allign is ever closer to the American model and the people are HATING it. Listen up America, you need to screw your heads back on!
I notice all those in favor speak as if the UK and Canada are some type of Utopia(and I guess it is true if you are healthy), but it is not.
All the while vilifying totally the US System.
What is really going down in the guise of health care reform is really nothing more than a grab for power and many will and are being deceived and will not realize it until it is too late or they become personally affected.
Making health care more affordable, does not call for a government take over.
I agree. The NHS is not perfect and is indesperate need of reform, however when you look at the US model I'm glad we have the NHS and I say this as someone who despises Socialism. I normally agree with Hannan, but he's committed Political Suicide by letting himself be used as a pawn in the Repubs scaremongering. The guy might as well stay in the US and become an armchair Political pundit for "Faux" News, because his time in the Tory Pary has become nigh-on untennable because of this.
My Grandparents were both in their 70's when they died and the NHS cared for them brilliantly. My Grandfather was riddled with Cancer but they didn't chuck him into a room and leave him to die. He was put into a private room so that the family could spend his last few weeks alone with him. My Grandmother was in a state run Care Home and she received excellent treatment.
May I add that your education system is simply superb and you're all very informed about this issue. It's great that you're taught how to think for yourselves and recognise misinformation and distorted facts. It's very impressive and on display for all to marvel at.
Thanks for your kind words, I am better now. I'm afraid you've been fed misinformation; people in their 60s get excellent treatment. It's not as if they're left to die! The only time age is a factor is in the case of organ transplants and suchlike.
Myself, and most Europeans, are pro-socialised healthcare (most likely because it's a part of our culture now). There is no rationing of medicine, as has been suggested, apart from for insanely expensive treatments,in which case you can go private
According to your profile, you're 21, so you're in the top priority age range for treatment. If you were in your 60s, you wouldn't be get the same preferential treatment. I'm sorry that you've had to deal with cancer at such a young age--I hope you're better now.

Not perfect and yet, the US is being preached too by supporters as if it were some kind of Utopia, dismissing the drawbacks and real concerns.
Doing something is worse than doing nothing if it only serves to make things worse.

Oh dear, Daniel Hannan is a hated man in the UK!
We may complain about the NHS in this country but when we do we talk about the need to improve it, never to dismantle it.
#welovetheNHS has been a trending topic on Twitter for days now. That is the UK taliking. This man has next to no support for his views over here.

It's shocking that Daniel Hannan did this.

Haha. Lazy stereotypes are always good.
