I still remeber the day George announced he was quitting LRB on the eve of their successful trip to America. I was in the ABC studios in Ripponlea Melb.at a taping of COUNTDOWN and Molly Meldrum interviewd Graeham Gobleabout it. Not sure, but here were suggestions he had become a born-again Christian and wanted to do other things. A pitty, because he was replaced by a basic bass played in Wayne Nelson, who with Steve Housden, still holds on to the name "Little River Band" with a tight fist! :-(
I guess I spent so much time enjoying the music of LRB that I never took the time to see the turmoil that obviously existed within the band. I thought the original group (certainly minus Farnham) was by far the best. I know all things must end, but what a shame to see what's become of them years later. To Glenn and the original founding members. . .all my best. . .you guys rocked. . .and your work is what has endured, for me.
@RickenbackerRules I think there was at least one bass player if not more between McArdle and Nelson.

Great bass player. Shame it didn't work out with George.

McArdle is vastly underrated.

Where can I find the rest of that interview? George was a big influence on my own playing and one of the big reasons I love LRB.

George, can you post a live version of you playing "Happy Anniversary"? It was the first slap & pop bass line I ever learned. Great work!

George McArdle is still one funky caucasian bass player.
