St. Colmcilles Pipe Band, 2011 European Championships

The Band performing at the European Championships in Stormont Belfast, July 30th 2011. This performance secured fourth place in grade 4B on the day, a good result for a band in its second competition season after a break of nearly two decades. The band was formed in 1911 and achieved some success on the competition field in the early 1990s including a second place in the Cowal Highland Games grade 4A in 1992. Unfortunately, the band went into decline in the years that followed until a group of former members got together to revive the band in 2008. The band is currently under the guidance of pipe major Joe Mooney and drum sergeant Willie Currams. Congratulations to fellow Irish band Achill who took first place in grade 4B.
