A recording of Luciano Pavarotti singing A Te, O Cara. Also in this recording you will hear soprano Joan Sutherland. As well as Piero Cappuccilli and Nicolai Ghiaurov.
Conductor - Richard Bonynge
Opera - I Puritani
Composer - Vincenzo Bellini
Listen to beautiful dynamics of the performance as well as the unbelievable ringing C# mid way through the recording by Pavarotti.
This recording was made in 1973 and released by Decca Recordings in 1987.

Many thanks - ah332, Belcore14, ianjacobs1 & magicmonkichi for their input on the info of this recording.

  • I believe this is Piero Cappuccilli, not Sherrill Milnes. Milnes didn't make a Puritani Decca recording with Pavarotti.

  • I think you're right

  • In opere come i Puritani Pavarotti è stato veramente un grande. Insieme a Kraus sono stati, nel dopoguerra, i due massimi interpreti.

  • bravo il maestro

  • Simply divine and out of this world! Luciano forever!

  • i have no idea how anyone could dislike this performance. reality is stranger than i can obviously imagine

  • truly one of life's musical treasures. the hi c at 2:45 is as good as it gets in the tenor range. while i've enjoyed many great singers, for me, there will only be one "maestro".

God bless you luciano and God speed.

  • 2:45 incredible!!!!

  • Pavarotti could still hit the Hi-C sharp then. For an even more impressive version look for his live rendition in Catania in 1968. Also the one in his first "solo album" from 1969 where he holds the note forever...!

  • OMG how beautiful

  • SI VAMOS A HABLAR DE LA PODEROSA Y ESCALOFRIANTE VOZ DE LA SUTHERLAND....EN 1959....60...61...62...ETC.ETCE..........ESO ES OTRO TEMA......Y LE RECUERDO QUERIDO AMIGO QUE EN EL MUNDO DE LA OPERA,,,CUANDO SUTHERLAND EMPEZO A DESTACAR....QUE SE PUSO A TEMBLAR LA MISMISIMA CALLAS......SU VOZ FUE CRITICADA DE HIELO......FULMINANTE......Y ENVIDIADA HASTA LA SACIEDAD....Y HOY POR HOY SIGUE SIENDO ASI........LA HISTORIA NO OLVIDA QUE SUTHERLAND.....ROMPIO TODOS LOS ESQUEMAS....

  • SUTHERLAND ESTABA EN UNO DE SUS MEJORES MOMENTOS...SIENTO DISCERNIR ....Y ERA PAVAROTTI EL QUE TENIA QUE ESFORZARSE EN ESTAR A SU ALTURA.......POR OTRO LADO YA SUTHERLAND...CANTABA LAS OPERAS CON UNA SEGURIDAD ESPELUZNANTE.....

  • PARA SER LA GRABACIÓN DEL AÑO 1973 ,JOAN SUTHERLAND ESTÁ EN DECLIVE VOCAL.LAS NOTAS ALTAS LE SUENAN DURAS Y CON VIBRATOY SU VOZ GENERAL,SUENA YA GASTADA.ABIERTO(AL ESTILO CALLAS).YO CREO QUE, O ESTABA PASANDO UNA CRISIS VOCAL O ESTÁ EQUIVOCADA LA FECHA DE LA GRABACIÓN.
