Totally recommend a visit to Reno. The Sea Fury to watch is September Fury, Race No.232.This aircraft runs a P&W3350 which I have to say does not have the same singing voice as the ever so classy english act (Centaurus).
there is something about BIG radial piston engines that makes them more pleasing to the ear than water cooled inlines.
it has to be said that the sleeve valve motors when on song are much smoother sounding than the other radial engines like those that power the P47 or DC3, even so, lets listen to the Bristol Symphony in C (enturus) major
@Irvine5312x6ma I totally agree, but mostly on the sound part: every piston engine (the Bristol Centaurus, the Rolls Royce Merlin, the Allison V-1710, the Pratt & Whitney R-2800, the Nakajima Sakae, the Daimler Benz DB605, ...) has its own voice; authentic music to my ears; and they all compose a whole universe of delightful mechanical music that, to me, no way exists among jets (all jets sound -practically- the same to me...)

@pddevilbiss If I remember correctly, the first Sea Fury entered at Reno won it's race without getting out of high-cruise.

It's amazing how a big aircraft like that can hustle.
No wonder they are so popular in unlimited air racing!!

Stephen Grey flew this just as well as he flies the bearcat, and did a brilliant job being the "joker".
Shame about CAA grounding TFC
