This is part 2 of the sliding filament theory of muscle contraction. I made this to help me study for the NSCA Certification. I plan on getting my CSCS and CPT Certification. This video talks about the 5 phases of the sliding filament theory. It will also show some pictures of actin, tropomyosin, troponin and myosin cross bridges. Here is part of the outline for part 2 to follow along with : 5 Phases of the Sliding Filament Theory of Muscular Contraction
Resting Phase
Excitation-Contraction Coupling Phase
Contraction Phase
Recharge Phase
Relaxation Phase

*Remember-there are 5 phases
1. Resting Phase
The muscle is not being stimulated by the motor neuron so the muscle is at rest.
2. Excitation-Contraction Coupling Phase
Calcium is released into the myofibril
Calcium attaches to troponin, which causes the shifting of tropomyosin and exposing the active binding sites on the actin molecule.
