The song title is ~ "Somebody please tell me NOW!"
Well, Jon-Erik Kellso volunteered the info below - -

Hi --
The title of this is "1919 Rag." The original title was "Rifle Ranger's March."
This from John Gill himself--I had to ask--I did not remember, either, so don't feel bad!
Cheers,
Jon-Erik Kellso

I recorded several tunes performed by this great band during The 15TH ANNUAL GLACIER JAZZ STAMPEDE in 2008. The festival always happens in early October.

The Yerba Buena Stompers are among the most popular bands on the dixieland/trad jazz circuit today, and I just can't get enough of their wonderful music.

John Gill says, "There's a lot of great I recorded out there...but we think that Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Kid Ory, Scott Joplin, Lu Watters, and Turk Murphy had somethin' special. Our versatile musicians got together to recreate and celebrate these wonderful and historically significant jazz musicians."

Band Members:
Hal Smith ~ Drums
Leon Oakley ~ Trumpet
Jon-Erik Kellso ~ Trumpet
Clint Baker ~ Tuba
Orange Kellin ~ Clarinet
Tom Bartlett ~ Trombone
Marty Eggers ~ Piano
John Gill ~ Banjo/Leader

Check out the websites above for more information and CD's.

I hope you can be there in 2009!

  • Tdub remember when you went to the Winery Jazz Bash at Prosser, WA? That's when I first favorited a video of yours with the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band playing Canal Street Blues.

  • @Abriggs500

Yep, that is the most heavily viewed trad jazz video on my channel. 69,431 views as of this date. I really enjoyed that festival!

PS. Do you attend any trad Jazz fests?

  • So would this be considered Dixieland?

  • @Abriggs500

Yes, this is a certain style of Dixieland. There are others as well.

  • What does Tdub mean anyways?

  • @Abriggs500

It is an old family secret that I can not divulge.

That KC gig was the first time I had ever seen or heard the Nighthawks. Needless to say I was totally blown away and have been ever since. FABULOUS PLUS!

Everything you are involved in is just great! I hope to bump into you again on the festival trail before too long.
