Making Theater is a podcast and videocast for those who work in theater form onstage to behind the scenes. This week, we explore the International Phonetic Alphabet vowel chart, including all of the vowel sounds and their symbols used in Standard American Stage Speech.

  • wunderbar!!, I wish there was a version for brits like me to learn AST, although I have noticed its mainly removing the R i pronuce in words such as Calm pronuced cahm or Dance pronouced Dahnce, I think the majority of A sounds in my accent are followed by a high R sound, and AST is much much lower in the jaw, like a drawl.
