National Highway 44, which connects Guwahati with Tripura is quite common for the residents of BARAK VALLEY and 4 different States to connect Guwahti with Major Towns towns and District of ASSAM, TRIPURA, MANIPUR and MIZORAM. The 723 km stretch of NH-44 (Shillong to Tripura) spans across the states of Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura and links some major district headquarters, towns and cities of Mizoram and Manipur. The available railway connectivity is not proper and broad-gauge railway project is in progress with snail speed. Therefore, NH-44 becomes the life line of all these states as the main and major mode of transportation. However, because of unavailability of essential Road Safety Equipments, the travel at NH-44 makes it dangerous, unsafe, life-threatening and tiring for the commuters. The major accident prone areas say, Tongseng, Sonapur and Malidor, were without basic "road safety norms".

  • I've travelled via this highway. The facts reflected in this video are completely true.I appreciate that someone has taken an initiative to put spotlight on the regions where roads are in very bad conditions & need immidiate attention of Concerned Authorities. It is sad indeed that this is the condition of a National Highway which connects Meghalya & Assam.

I wish if our governing authorities can take some inititives in this regard..

    Hoping for some improvement...

  • Its a pathetic example of National Highway Authority of India. Government should take proper action to safe guard the life of commuters of this National Highway
