the term is gender stratification in sociological terms

@NAeatsyourface Sex is obviously inherited and gender roles are obviously socially constructed, but what's missing here is the distinction between gender roles and gender itself. We have a whole new generation of post 2nd wave women who can aspire to all the traditional male occupations, but they're not following the unisex model of their idealistic feminist parents & grandparents. Those who are genuinely & naturally androgynous are in the minority. You can't impose that ideal on everyone.

Sex, gender identity and gender roles are three very different things. Feminists are quick to make a distinction between sex (male & female) and gender roles (housekeeper or athlete), but they tend to confuse gender roles and gender identity. This leaves them clueless as to why the sons & daughters of feminist baby boomers didn't all become unisex, even after gender roles changed. Why? Maybe gender itself is not totally socially constructed, even if gender roles are deconstructed.

You feminazis are all stupid.
You lose.

stel119: "gender is a social construction..."
The term "gender" was co-opted by feminists.
Show me proof that your concept of "gender" is anything more than a ridiculous notion invented by kooks,
... AND which cannot be better explained using a reductionist framework and more legitimate sciences like biology and evolutionary psychology.
I'm STILL waiting....

gender is a social construction that varies cross culturally. sex is the biological aspects that define female and male. you're just embarassing yourself here.

Why don't you just enlighten us all with your brilliance? Make us a well reasoned argument in favor of social constructivism.
I'll be waiting.........

NA: "We are born genderless..."
Your statement is shocking and is demonstrably false. Who the hell brainwashed you into thinking that?
NA: "...not boy or girl, that distinction is clearly taught."
If it's so "clearly taught", then why is it universal across time and cultures?
-
lol you're dumb. go do some research and then come back with a brain... or at least knowledge
-
puyen and NA: why can't it be a mixture? there are obvious biological differences between men and women- hormones, etc. testosterone and estrogen do affect out behaviors. but society also shapes us- what we see being held as the 'ideal' for whichever gender can make us conform or rebel against these ideas.

You should be telling people that they should strive to look more like the ads. We are in the midst of an obesity epidemic that claims 400,000 lives a year. Would you tell a smoker to smoke up? You are killing people!
