- This is a scene from Lonesome, a silent film from 1928 starring Barbara Kent and Glenn Tyron. Here the two lovers flirt on the insanely populated beach at Coney Island.
Live musical accompaniment composed and improvised by Trevor Gureckis, piano; and Caroline Shaw, violin.
Premiere: April 18th, 2008 as part of the Cinema at the Whitney film series at the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University.
I saw this just yesterday at the Dryden theater in Rochester, NY, with the restored original soundtrack. Those dialog sequences that were inserted at the last second were something awful. But the rest of the film is amazing!
