I can safely say the PC Engine version owns the Genesis in every way from watching this video.
-
The best port for this was After Burner II Complete for the Genesis 32x. Other than the Saturn version which was basically an arcade clone.

@Nintega no theyre not, certain versions had it,since after burner ii was basically a better version of 1,so it had the original versions of the music with the added notes, and most ports had the added notes as well except for the 32x and genesis versions

The Saturn "Sega Ages" After Burner II is a perfect arcade port, with enhancements. You can actually select the two different soundtracks in the options.
The PC Engine version of this game was way ahead of the others in its generation. It even had sprite scaling!

im play this as pc freware game but im stil done this game i thing maybe on level 3?? but its hard XD

pc engine always has better colors (512 simultaneous colors vs 64 for genesis) and in this case, pc engine version had bigger smoke, truer to the arcade version. both versions were lacking details in the ground/ocean compared to the arcade. genesis version had score/missle/life count on top of graphics instead of black bar like pc engine. and genesis version had flames appearing during afterburner. pc engine version did look better overall.

you should compare the games from the systems of the same era. pc engine/genesis is a fair match. pc engine/saturn is not.
-
Could you post this video in higher quality?
-
Well it's not as if modern games have that problem either.
They usually have about four - brown, brown, brown and brown,
-
The PC engine port was probably the closest to the arcade version GRAPHICALLY, but in terms of gameplay, the Genesis version is still the best (when played on a controller that hasn't been ridden to hell and back)
-
i guess it's easier to get definition when you only have 64 colors on screen...no extra colors to clutter it up!
-
i'll take my 32X AfterBurner. pop that shit in, no loading, arcade graphics (don't gimme shit about the framerate - so wat if it's 30fps) and normal music :-)
-
pcengine is the best conversion... sega peed on themselves :)
-
One of my favorite tunes... Thanks for this ! 5/5.

Ive been reading allot recently on the pcengine and the history behind it. I am a big Sega fan but I find myself humbled by the pcengine and tg16 simply because hudson soft had the balls to take on Nintindo. The more games I download for this system off the wii, the more respect I have for it. It does have its advantages over the Genesis and SuperNintindo. I love the brightness and spirit of their games. The sound is pretty good probably equall to the supernintindo but not quit up to the sega.
-
I prefer the one without the melody to be honest... don't know why.
-
Yep, however you can also safely say that the Saturn version owns the PCE version ;p
-
BTW you made the music sound so awesome when mixing the 2 versions!
-
Wow did not know that. Thanks for the info.

WOOOOW! The arcade version's is really awesome! It's like the music had an echo-sync effect with rock guitars as an extra percussion! The Sega Genesis's music is nothing compared to this! THANKS A LOT (I wonder if my comment had reminded you of this)!
Is this the turbo 16 version or the master system??? Sorry but the grafx sux compared to the Genesis verison just watched it. They are so much sharper and defined. Sorry t16 no wonder you lasted about 3 years.

The visuals are a mixture of the arcade version and the PC Engine.

I noticed that the PCE version sounds like an enhanced version of the SMS version's music.
Nintega 4 years ago
In what way? The sound is certainly nothing alike.

At 00:27 the added notes originally came from the SMS version. The arcade version didn't have that.

There are two different versions of the music in the arcade versions, one without the melody and one with. For the video here I used the arcade soundtrack from the Sega GSM collection.
