The movie (after the 1972 novel by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre) is set around the dramatic creation of the State of Israel in 1949. In New York, Jewish Bobby Goldman (JJ Feild) meets Arab Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui). They become close friends and have a good time together. When they both travel to Jerusalem to wait for the decision of the UN concerning the UN Partition Plan the conflict between Arabs and Jews leads into terrorism. When the fight for the control of Jerusalem becomes worse, Bobby and Saïd find themselves on different sides...

JJ, I got most of this up until this bit. How did B's Arab friends and his Jewish friends come together? And how was she shot? Would someone be so kind to explain why a glass is crushed under a napkin in a Jewish marriage ceremony? Is it a Jewish belief that a marriage is immortal? Why the statement, "if I forget thee, O Jerusalme" mean? Is this said in all Jewish marriage ceremonies? How does an actor get up in the morning, have breakfast and accomplish this? Electric.
