Members of the Somapa Thai Dance Company perform at the Smithsonian's Annual Folklife Festival in Washington, DC (July 8, 2007). Somapa was among several local Asian-American dance companies showcasing one of the festival's themes: Mekong River Cultures. • I saw this at Thai temple today. It was amazing :)

  • @HatsuneMikuKon

    Which Thai temple? Where?

  • this is very kitschy(hokey)

such a dance should only performed on a very beuautiful stage or in the palace but not in such a cheap place (I say it as a 1/2thai)

and I sounds and looks like muay thai

  • There were several music and dance groups performing at the same venue, in what is essentially a temporary stage under a circus tent on the National Mall. I agree that an air-conditioned stage with theater lighting would have been preferable but this is a very informal setting that is designed to get people in and out quickly if necessary to attend other events taking place during the Folklife Festival. The important thing is to expose Americans to the culture of Thailand.

  • Oh! i would like to see it!!

  • Someone apparently beat me to it! Someone else posted it, not me. However, YouTube is not allowing me to give you the link as it keeps erasing the comment, so I will have to tell you to go to Goo gle vid eo and search for "Makar.
