Hey man, iv made about 6 - 7 fortresses but i always fail because i cant feed my dwarves! Do you have any pointers for better farming or food gathering.

@Noobtron3000 Try hunting. I've been toying with that a lot and its a pretty easy way to get extra food.

@captnduck I'm running out of space to put all the barrels of food in, do you know tips on solving that? :P

@l0rf Make more barrels, or rock pots. You can find rock pots at the craftdwarfs workshop.

I have continuously tried this method of irrigation, I have set up a fortification I have checked the water level and it is only 1/7 and yet whenever I try setting up the floodgate the dwarfs say that the site is submerged. Please tell me how you got a floodgate up in the video when the site was seemingly submerged?

@fleshyechidna When the tile reaches 2/7 water dwarves wont build there. And with water movement that can happen, one extra depth of water can go over there quite fast. The trick is to either keep trying, or wait until all the water drains out. This might be tough if it is raining outside, and rain starts filling up the pool.
