Ibanez 7-string acoustic Artwood AJ-307cent sound

Just some simple strumming om this very special guitar. At that point it had old rotten strings and I hadn't gotten to know the instrument. But this video is mean to show a bit of the sound and what a real seven string acoustic looks like by the best brand for 7-str.

@backwardsnamestaken I understand how you feel, but I hunted for this guitar for years myself and would sell wife and car with children in it before I sold this. It has gotten so much better over the years also with some adjustments and better strings. If I ever found anotherone I would buy it immediately. I Think it will be an collectors item also, but I use it, not just keep it on the wall.

Ibanez sold these guitars about 13 years ago the discontinued them due to poor sales so there are very few of them. I donthink thiugh that they will put out a new one soon since the 7 has become so popular.

what gauge is used for the low B?

@robostomo1 Its a regular 057, any heavier and you would probably have to have it set because of the added strain of the thick string. And also you want to be able to do big chords with a normal string. It the hardest string to tune because of the low pitch.

@blacklegionairsoft1 In this case I think so, but the standard tuning is BEADGBE , but I often use BEADF#BB which is a HUGE chord in it self, and even AEADF#BB that is the evil brother of the last one....

The BEADF#BB tuning is great because I get to use the top six strings as you would play a normal sixstring guitar only that it has this nice extra ringing light B to make it special. THere is alot more to this sevenstring than the pure metal playing as you can tell.

Oh, i got you. I know 7's and 8's are for more than just metal, but i figured one would want standard tuning with the extra bass string. But the point is for the extra high B like a 12 string i guess for a more harmonic sound. Like 3:40 or something.

@BikFlofer I dont want to ruin your spirits man but getting one of these is never going to be easy, but they do occur once in a while. The only really relevant place I see you getting ahold of one of these is ebay og craigslist, Ive seen one on ebay years back, but not since. I got this one from an personal advert here in norway on a site called finn dot no. Mine was min and cost me 1000$, but I guess youd have to give even more now that the sevenstring scene is back again. I wish you luck!

@BikFlofer I wish you luck in your hunt, it is indeed a rare breed of guitars. I think Dean also made a version you could look for, but Ibanez are the best on 7 strings, I think most people acknowledge that. The guitar is really nice in every way and not at all as hard to play as you would think.

That's correct, when you play it on that guitar, it sounds pretty much identical to the acoustic intro of "A Change of Seasons" on Petrucci's (Dream Theater's) recording.

@merqury5 Just stick heavies on and you will soon get used to the them and your lower arm strength will increase accordingly. No pain no gain.
