This is my entry to the Gundam Eclipse 24hr group build challenge which was hosted by the forum on the 8th and 9th of October 2011.

The model is fully painted and presented an interesting challenge over the weekend. Its far from flawless but was a load of fun to work on.

The kit has been painted with a combination of Humbrol, Rustoleum, Citadel and Tamiya paints (clear blue for the chest and head jewels). The white pieces were painted with rustoleum matt white over a white primer.

  • Interesting that you switched the red and blue on the kit. Not what I'd do, but nice. I love that you substituted gold for the yellow. Paint job's really nice. I'm working on painting my first SD kit; it's the 00 Seven Sword; any suggestions on what gloss coat to use? I usually leave everything flat, but I feel it would work well with either a clear gloss, clear metallic or clear candy coat.

  • @gunplanut There were quite a few compromises I had to apply to the paint scheme as everything from start to finish had to be completed within 24hours for this group build this was part of.

I think clear gloss is the way to go, if you don't like the finish you can always give it a clear Matt coat. Good luck with the SD kit, there awesome little model.

  • Hey TC,its not sd wing gundam! Its the perfect!!!!! wing gundam!!!! lol

    Beautiful work my friend!!!!!!

  • @REBOOTYOURSELF100 :D thanks for the great feedback. The paintscheme unfortunately isn't entirely prefect, and there are a few flaws with the finish in places, but given the timeframe to paint it I was really happy with the results.

LOL, now onto my next kit, the Noblesse Oblige, its gonna take a few weeks to get this one ready!

  • Was looking at the 24h group build over of GE today! very nice as always. SD look like so much fun and not too much work.

Get your shoes, get your shoe shined!

  • @Wizartar Thanks Wizartar, the 24hr group build was a lot of fun to participate in. The timeframe was fiendish for a fully painted model, but the challenge was half the fun. We're gonna have to get you to try a SD kit for the next one Sir!!!!

LOL :D , get the cool, get the cool shoe shine :P !!

  • @tc012009 Didn't look to me like you compromised on anything to me. I'm leaning towards the metallic, but may try both out on spare pieces before deciding. Weather sucks today so I'll have to wait luckily I got the blue and white basecoats down yesterday on all the parts.

  • love the music =3

  • @meadeslemicah Thansk meads, I really enjoyed working on this one. Thanks for participating in the 24hr GB, its was a lot trickier than I had expected, but loads more fun!
