Quindaro was an abolitionist town founded in Kansas in 1857. It was named after the wife of one of the founders, a Wyandotte Indian and supposedly means "bunch of little sticks," which was spun by the abolitionists to mean "in Union there is strength." The tune was first published in Boston in 1858 and was likely written by a Massachusetts abolitionist.
Mark Gilston plays Quindaro hornpipe on a McSpadden "Ginger" dulcimer.
