That is done using a patch on the Kaoss Pad 2.

Is there a pick up causing the aweful reverberation on this video. THE INSTRUMENT LOOKS COOL

Yes, a pickup that goes to a KP2 fx box. The audio you hear is reversed with a slight delay. Sometimes thumb pianos sound too much like doorbells. This is a simple example of adding some texture to the sound, to "un-pretty" it and move it more in a noise direction.
