Eight Belles is MURDERED at 134th Kentucky Derby 2008

Big Brown wins the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs in Louisville on 5/3/08 as the filly Eight Belles breaks her front ankles and is murdered.

You are so stupid she was NOT murdered!!! horses rarely recover from braking both their front legs even if they do they'll always be in pain, you can't even blame this on racing. freak accidents like this happen, she could've had this same fall running around in a pasture. yes it is very very sad when you have to put your horse down. this doesn't only happen to horses people but there cats, dogs, birds, etc down all the time to put their animals out of misery.

OK....Eight Belles was not MURDERED, she had to be put down because she was in so much pain and horses can't live without use of all four legs. It would have been more awful to let her live.

You dummy...Eight Belles was NOT MURDERED. Accidents happen, plain and simple. They did what was in the best intrest of the horse. Breaking any bone in the leg is very painful to the horse, mainly because of how they're built. When you get a decent brain in your head, leave me a comment

Murdered is not what happened at all. Eight Bells broke both her ankles. Anyone who knows about horses would know that most horses don't recover from leg injuries and have to be put down, not murdered. It was either that or she would have to live out the rest of her life in pain.

More than 150k QH are registered each year worldwide while the TB industry has around 40k registered each year worldwide. Its estimated that as much as 70% of all the U.S. horses sold to slaughter are QH/QH types while TB's account for (estimated) 10-15% of sales.

@LiveBreathHorses You say horses 'rarely' recover from breaking both front legs. Many horses dont recover from breaking ONE leg. Do you know of even one instance of a horse recovering from breaking both legs? As far as I am aware it has never happened and is considered impossible.
