Well, ff you never played with the fingers on your E-guitar, it seems amazing.s Never saw Johnny Winter? Or Jeff Beck? Or Knopfler?
What I find more amazing is his technique playing the slide and also using his other fingers of the slide hand - that combination is really great!

@rickrudd I found it interesting that you named Jerry Reed as a great along with Chet. I always considered JR as a great player too. After I came acroos some vids on YT of them playing to gather. And watching JR trying to keep up with Chet. Made me relize even more that Chet was and is one of the very best ever. But I'm sure you agree with that. If you havn't seen the vids you should check them out

What scale is normally used to solo with a slide? Just regular pentatonic?

year ago with David Lindley(a very intimate venue)
no more than 100 in attendance. My good friend
was David's road manager at the time & It was a
very special evening. Both David & Sonny are the best, HANDS DOWN!!

I got to shake his hand after a show last year...unfortunately, nothing rubbed off and my slide playing hasn't improved much.
