Putting your hand in this, or any other pitfall carnivorous plant like pitcher plants, does nothing more than wet your hand. The digestive enzymes work very slowly. Insects drown and form a slow-release fertilizer for the plant. They don't digest like animals with strong acids, they use very weak acids and enzymes.
