To watch the Brazil - Korea game for the World Cup 2010 first round, I went to the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney in California. I have waited 4 years to watch the opening round for Brazil again. What a great area to watch the game! Leather seats in front of a 15 foot wide screen tv, surrounded by all different flat screens! At first, I was the only Brazilian fan there, but as we were getting closer to the game, more Brazilian jerseys came through the door, and started to sit at all the tables throughout the restaurant. What an amazing atmosphere! I spoke with many of the fans, and asked where they were from, and what Brazilian team they pulled for. Some were from São Paulo, and their team was Corinthians. Others were from Belo Horizonte, and they rooted for Cruzeiro, while still others were from Rio de Janeiro, and rooted for Fluminense. I let them all know that I was a Flamengo fan, and they laughed, but all in good fun. Both times that Brazil scored, I tried to get everyones cheers and applause. The great thing about meeting a Brazilian fan during a Brazilian game, you automatically are welcomed as family.
