Flashmob MCO - Mambo!

Een orkest van meer dan 150 musici speelde op 26 oktober 2010 onder leiding van Jules Buckley de Mambo uit Bernsteins West Side Story. Voorafgaand aan de regeringsverklaring waren zij naar Den Haag CS gereisd om hun kwaliteit te laten horen. Hiermee protesteerden ze tegen de mogelijke afschaffing van het gehele Muziekcentrum van de Omroep.

@ OregonDreams. It is a mystery to many of us why this is happening. The Metropole Orchestra is part of the MCO and that is, if not the most prestigious, the most well known orchestra of the country. They do a lot of work in melting rock and pop with classical music and collaborating with other artists. They're at the centre of some really major musical events every year. I doubt if the people calling themselves our government atm realize that.

Why a government would not support one of its country's prestigious asset, an asset that gives pride, spirit and quality of life to its people, is beyond me. I hope other countries do not succumb to this backward philosophy.

Ze zijn een groot deel van onze cultuur, een Renbrandt vekoop je ook niet om te bezuinigen.
