This lift has 3 landings (B, O, G). B is store basement level, O is for exit to the adjacent Oracle Shopping Centre, G is store ground level.

  • @Matty6968 Thanks for the info. It'll be a shame to see the old lifts go, but they are way too slow for the amount of floors they serve. Hopefully the replacements will be faster.

  • The Scenics in the centre of the store are currenly being replaced

  • This lift is at the back of Heelas, in the same part as the Otis Scenics. It was installed in 1999 to give step free access from the Oracle centre.

  • Yep this is Heelas, they use the full John Lewis branding now. The old express's have been replaced with Otis 2000's but the glass hyraulics are still there, but were very busy as it was saturday. I'm back in Reading a week tuesday so will film the Scenics then.

  • Did you get to go in Heelas (part of John Lewis partnership) in the high street? This used to have some old express lifts with massive "GOING UP" and "GOING DOWN" signs above the doors. The sign used to flash on and off, each time the sign turned on the bell chimed. You definately knew the lift had arrived!

There are also some old otis hydraulic scenic lifts in the main part of the shop - they have internal floor indicators simular to this video at 0:40.
