They are BOTH excellent guitarists at the top of their game.....Satch Wrote the song but you have to give petrucci some credit for doing an excellent job on this very difficult piece.......Now if we could just get satch to play damage control on stage with Petrucci Life would be so very good!!!

@iTheRealSnow That's such a rubbish response. Don't get me wrong, to me Satch is the better player too. For a number of reasons, such as his impeccable legato. However, to assert 'soul' into the structure of musicianship is haughty and means absolutely nothing. Feeling/soul is an INTERNAL subjective concept, nothing more. You can only qualify whether or not you like it, whether it influences you ... nothing else.....

petrucci is absolutely bad ass but , honestly, he is no Satch!

@luigiev Satch absolutely could play Petrucci's work. The thing is, Petrucci can't really play Satriani's songs. He plays the same notes, but lacks the feeling and emotion that Satriani puts into his music.
