This year I spent Thanksgiving with my family and we prepared a feast of vegan dishes. Here I'll show you how we prepared the centerpiece dish--a hollowed pumpkin filled with a rice medley. You'll also get some great ideas fro ways to incorporate compassion into your Thanksgiving. For example, each year we symbolically adopt a turkey from Farm Sanctuary and place the adoption certificate in the center of the table and give a nice toast to the turkeys. Enjoy!

  • Thanks - I'm thinking about making a vegan Thanksgiving dinner, and this video helps a lot. I can't picture Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes, corn-bread stuffing, and gravy though!

  • @nebraskafrankcourtny You can totally make vegan mashed potatoes, corn-bread, stuffing and gravy! Just do a search for those vegan recipes online and you will find TONS! My family has always had a sort-of unusual thanksgiving spread, which is why you don't see them in this video. :)

  • I love the way you're practically spoilt for choice at the table! I'd love to sit down to a feast like that here in England. Thanks for posting!

  • I love your idea of a stuffed pumpkin. I'm thinking of doing that this year. But I have the spicy tempeh. Would that work? I'm not too familiar with tempeh. Thanks :)

  • @VeganBreak It looks like a Thanksgiving dinner that's vegan AND traditional (except for the turkey part) is a reality! Thanks!

  • I adopted Kima too!!!! i have the certificate hanging up in my room. she's so cute and precious :)

  • Beautiful meal, although that pie looks like someone shit it into the crust.

  • I hate to rain on your Vegan parade, but you missed out on a lot of good traditional foods. You could have had mashed potatoes (made with the Vegan butter and soy milk), Vegan biscuits, green beans, Vegan apple pie/pumpkin pie, and most importantly, tofo turkey! P.S. What do you feed your dog? Make sure he/she gets all his suppliments from other food if you do not give him traditional dog food.

  • sounds like a really nice thanks giving :). i spent my year nice and hungry considering that i only had peanut butter and flour tortillas

  • Nice apron & nice food.
