@grabberguy15 Thank you! I'm pretty sure I can still add some more beans so might try that. It still works well in recipes this way.

@lynn4flowers this would be considered as vanilla vodka. by US and Canadian standards it has to be atleast 13.75% vanilla which is 6 vanilla beans per cup with means you would 9 vanilla beans for 375ml of vodka for this to be considered vanilla extract. now you may think wow its not so cheap anymore cause you probably ay $1.50 a bean. hit ebay of even type vanilla beans for sale into google. i buy them for 62 cents a bean but i also buy 2-6 pounds at a time.( family business ). hope this helps.

My vanilla tastes like Vodka (and, yes, Vodka has a flavor!). I tried it with whole vanilla beans and preparing them as instructed in this video. I used Absolute Vodka. What went wrong?
@grabberguy15 Thanks for sharing "grabberguy15"......great info! I always let mine soak for 6 months at least and i luv it....but, i've never tasted it out of the jar :-)) A friend soaks her beans in rum!!!

Did you soak the beans for 6 months??? I've never tasted the vanilla other than baked into something. The vodka I used was 90 proof. Store bought vanilla has corn syrup and caramel color added to it....so its probably sweet. This homemade vanilla has simply vodka and vanilla beans.
