I personally dont think this is an important lift but if u must do it there is no need for going over 50% of your 1RM.

I checked the first link - it said nothing about a 800lbs+ (for 15 reps) hack squat.
I don't know Steve and this is no disrespect to him, but, in the world there aren't many 800+lbs deadlifters and there are even fewer 800+lbs hack squatters. If you have witnessed this personally, I would love to see a video. Many bodybuilders, when they use the term "hack squat" are referring to a hip sled exercise, NOT barbell hack squats.
