This was televised on NHK - the culmination of my 1 year at Japanese language school and 1 year spent working in Tokyo. Although admittedly, most of the finalists did it from memory, the panel did try and rattle us at the end with some random questions! My speech was about my experiences on Japanese tv and what it was like being a foreign actor in a Japanese drama.

  • @eranbeard wow thats insanely fast~ 9 months? did you memorize all of that speech or you actually know every conjugation of every verb and all those adjectives. what the hell.

  • My sister and I are going to take a Japanese language class next year. We can't wait. :) It may be nerdy of us, but we can recognize a few Japanese words because we watch anime. I can't wait to learn the writing.

  • @jbs3009 why? There's different categories for different levels, and I know plenty of half-races that don't know their parents' languages. I think it's really nice they are willing to learn more about their culture. It's not like it's easier to learn a language if you have that blood, me for example, I'm half French and in school it was really hard for me to learn, yet I learnt Brazilian Portugeuse within 6 months and I have absolutely no blood relations.

    What a ridiculous ban if there were...
