@MrRAB89 It became the european union in the early 90's...yet most of the countries that joined after that had a referendum. so how does that work.

@EuropeanBrit Sorry you are mistaken, some countries had a referendum on joining the european economic community which was supposed to be about trade, but of course the plan all along was to create a european superstate.
