I am Jewish, and I do not believe in the Creator, especially if he's some 5,000 year old Jewish dude, because if he was, I'd never have to buy retail.

excellent stuff, every word true and a gem; I'm 60 and English, so, in a sense, have grown up in parallel with Miller, and he has said/written some powerfully silly things over the years, but this is the liberal humanistic outlook at its very best - I'm happy to live and die by this creed.

After discussing this with some Jewish friends, it seems some people think he's only talking about Judaism in the religious sense of the word. I think it's bigger than that. He was also talking about "Jewishness" as a national or cultural group as well. What a great man!

@donnyab I was thinkin' the `70's too but then at-a-glance thru the listed vids, I noticed "Part 1." of the interview [by Dick Cavett] that this clip is excerpted from. I wonder how old this interview is? it is in black and white yet he mentions The "Life of Brian" movie. Can you imagine a fireside chat between Jonathon Miller and Stephen Fry? Who would not want to be a fly on the wall to listen to that?
