What a fascinating story. And you know, he's right; Moieivitsch's recording of the Scherzo IS better than Rachmaninoff's (though of course R's is brilliant as well). Both recordings are on youtube; if you haven't heard them you're missing out.

what a fascinating interview...and what would be even more wonderful was that if rachmaninoff had recorded ALL the works in his repertoire.
the scriabin concerto, the schumann concerto, the liszt sonata, what a shame we have none of these!
