Kinpira gobo is one of my favorite Japanese dishes. You said it was easy, but to me it is almost like an advanced cooking lesson. I just go to a Japanese supermarket to buy some.

I think the Sunday cooking shows are my fave. Very neat one this time. It's great getting to see how to cooking some Japanese treats. hee. Maybe one day I'll try to follow one or two.

I know this is very old but a small tip is to put the burdock into acidulated water(Lemon Water) to stop it from discolouring very nice recipe though

@Elosion440 Thank you, I'd never heard that before. Great tip! I miss it ... I haven't seen it in any shops in NZ. I'm sure someone must be growing it here though, it can't be that hard.

Oh! You'd better put sake at first and soi next. If it's possible, you use mirin instead fo sake. That make it better.^.^
Sorry poor English.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll try that next time. I should stop being so lazy and make kinpira gobo more often... it's so delicious.

I haaate cutting up the hard vegetables; that's my least favorite part about cooking!
I had never heard of godo before. I'll look out for it at the Asian market next time I go.

I don't like cutting them either! Pain in the arse... Probably why I'd never made this before.
