Just an update for anyone interested... the screen flickering has stopped the other day. So now the screen works fine out of the blue. Weird huh!
The other problems seem to stem around Windows & the WDM drivers etc. Basically if you use the Ultralite as an ASIO only device in your DAW your shouldnt have any problems.

Just make sure you have a TI or Lucent based Firewire card in your PC or Mac and you should be fine. FYI i think they recently changed from TI to something else in Macs (in the last 6~ months)

I know this is very silly, but have you tried contacting Motu's service department? Of course they won't be able to help you, after all they only designed the stuff...

ive read up and these problems usually require the unit to be sent to motu. i'm Australia and MOTU are in USA and I wouldnt be able to afford the studio downtime.

This is caused by Windows audio drivers being accessed while your using the motu on windows. I know , I've been dealing with the same issue.
I can prove it. I'm a tech.
Shut computer down.
Turn on MOTU by itself.
Boot up your computer.
Watch when windows loads it's audio drivers, you'll see the levels start bouncing and crackling. It's windows, that's causing the issue. WDM driver issue, I think.
I own the motu and trouble shooted this same prolem. So, I've saved you some time :)

Ok so dont use the WDM drivers at all? What do i do to hear normal system sounds? I have to resort to extra speakers?
