I had a new Chinese 148 GTL and well, LOL, it was pretty bad. I sold it and i kept my 1979 version which stomps the crap out of the newer 148 gtls. The new ones just sound bad on SSB.

@umpalumpa101909 any thing but a cobra radio there junk i think my cobra 29lyd clasic lasted about 8 months before the display burnd out personaly i like my new galaxy

@Fox250R A low cost 3 amp power supply from radio shack would provide plenty of power for any of those radios stock or tricked out. 14 amps would run a linear that put out about 200 watts.

The CB frequencies seem to be very quiet here in Seattle...... sign of the times i guess.

galaxy 959 dx its a cool radio. i have one in the truck i drive the most.

Was that Johnny Cash singing? He was the "coolest" just like your videos, real cool. CB's are here to stay. I'm surprised that you are getting into them now and not before. They were around when I was a young 'un, 60 years ago. Keep them vids comin' n thanks.

how many amps would u need to run a 148 as a base? would 14 amps work?
