Summerhill

Summerhill é uma escola inglesa, fundada em 1921 por Alexander Sutherland Neill (Escócia, 1883 - 1973). É uma das pioneiras dentro do movimento das escolas democráticas. Atende crianças do ensino fundamental e do ensino médio. Atualmente a diretora é a filha de Neill, Zoe Readhead.

Uma escola democrática é caracterizada por dois princípios básicos: a possibilidade de os alunos escolherem se querem ou não assistir as aulas e a dinâmica de assembléias, onde todos participam, para decidir as normas da escola.

Summerhill se destaca por defender que as crianças aprendem melhor se livres dos instrumentos de coerção e repressão usados pela grande maioria das escolas. Todas as aulas são opcionais, os alunos podem escolher as que desejam freqüentar e as que não desejam. Neill fundou a escola acreditando que "uma criança deve viver sua própria vida - não uma vida que seus pais acreditem que ela deva viver, não uma vida decidida por um educador que supõe saber o que é melhor para a criança."

Files with the Director of Public Prosecutions show 25% of suspects are immigrants.

African men are 10 times more likely to be accused of Rape. East Europeans are 7 times more likely.

A disporportionate amount of Africans and East European men are accused of rape.

1 in every 10 rape allegations were made against a combination of these 2 groups.

Foreign nationals are also more likely to be prosecuted by the DPP.
