Welcome to GITEP
Our scheme operates as one of the most effective partnerships between schools and higher education in the country. The partnership is between the University of Gloucestershire and the Gloucestershire Association of Secondary Headteachers.
It is fair to state at the outset that you will find your training year hard in all sorts of ways, but if past experience is anything to go by, you will also find the year to be immensely rewarding. With so much time in schools you will receive plenty of practical training as you start to become a reflective practitioner. You will have the chance to make your connections between theory and practice in both school and University. It will be a year of personal growth and will be both challenging and fascinating.
You will find much support during your training from your fellow trainees, your Training Manager, your Mentor, your Subject Leader as well as your Course Leaders.
GITEP offers two routes into Secondary teaching:
Post Graduate Certificate in Education and the Graduate Teacher Programme.
For Primary teaching we offer the Graduate Teacher Programme.
Our Partnership works with schools in the following regions:
Secondary PGCE mainly in Gloucestershire and Swindon
Secondary GTP in Gloucestershire, Swindon, Bristol and Bath
Primary GTP in Gloucestershire, Bristol, Swindon and Wiltshire
