Chris Chelios cross-checking Mike Keane five times

With the Red Wings in control with a two-goal lead, play continued to be chippy in the final minutes. Detroit defenseman Chris Chelios became enraged after Colorado's Mike Keane ran into Hasek with 4:11 remaining.

Chelios repeatedly cross-checked Keane to the back, earning three minor penalties on the same play -- two for delay of game and one for unsportsmanlike conduct. But Chelios was not done. He shouted at Keane and was sent to the locker room after picking up a 10-minute misconduct.

"Chelios wanted to show the rest of the team that you can't have the goalie contact," Detroit coach Scotty Bowman said. "(Hasek) hurt his leg a little bit."

PENALTIES: C Chelios, Det (cross checking, misconduct, game misconduct), 15:49; C Chelios, Det (unsportsmanlike cond served by S Avery), 15:49.

This is one of my favorite with Cheli -- I was at this game -- love the way that he stood up for his goalie -- keane was apunk for running him -- it was all in response to a brawl that occured earlier when Wah attacked Maltby after he was tripped/pushed into the Colorado net........good stuf - god I miss those days.
