Closet Sunday

This is a very dark, and hopefully powerful video. It takes clips from the movie Closet Land and is set to the music "The Song Of The Gloomy Sunday" and this version is sung by Ben Becker.

If you don't like dark and possibly disturbing/depressing music/videos, then this video is not for you. Be warned; there is nothing fluffy or happy about this video.

The lyrics are sung in German. You can find an English translation of the song by Googling "Gloomy Sunday".

This song is said to be the cause of many suicides and the original composer, Rezso Seress wrote the song after losing his beloved and he eventually committed suicide.

Edit: After comparing the English Lyrics to this version of the song, the third stanza was omitted. Therefore I can only conclude that this version of the song Gloomy Sunday is the closest to the original that can be currently found since the third stanza was added much later in an attmept to make the song sound uplifting (something that this version most definitely does not strive for).

I'm sorry your video got pulled. Youtube has been greatly irritating me in that regard. They pulled two of my videos as well. One I managed to find a new song for and got it back up, but the other I just flat out refuse to do so.

This place was much better before "real" artists started promoting their videos on it.

Though, I kind of wish that there was a way for Youtube to use an automatic translation program, so that everyone could write in their native language, and the person viewing, could see the comment in their native language. Closet Land is such a good movie! This video is wonderfull! I made a video myself with film-clips of Closet Land combined with the song 'Dont fear the Reaper', it was a great video but unfortunatly YouTube deleted it!
