Oh god. Certainly my favorite.

when I see the comment horrific distortion, well I do like this horrific distortion compared to non musicians playing this in a silly way.... another comment tells the names which I would never pronounce.... par politeness....

It is a very personal recording but this pianist seems to have a real vision about what he is playing, and so it is very powerful and upsetting.

Vladimir Sofronitsky was held in the highest regard by Gilels and Richter and they were devastated when he died. For me he is one of my favourite musicians. Thank you for posting.

je pense que c'est surjoué, exagéré, les forte forte ne sont pas sur la partition, il manque une maîtrise des "piano piano piano" et que l'interprête devrait s'essayer plutôt à Chopin.

To me this is incredibly creative, sensitive and lyrical.

Sofronitskii is a master - who would ever presume to criticise him??

@NotAgain90 It is entirely your right to think whatever you wish. And judging by your use of the phrase 'STFU,' I would dare say I have held a mirror to your face. And you do not like what you see.
Wow! That's a very special rendition. Of course it's "exaggerated" - Schubert meets the Russian Soul. Brendel or Pollini would never play like that. But that's the fascination of this recording, which I had never heard before. And who is to say the piece does not have this huge emotion in it? within his own approach, Sofronitsky is totally authentic - this is how he perceives music. Thank you for posting!

This is a horrific distortion. Otherwise, it's wonderful.
