Activists gather in Boulder as part of a worldwide demonstration to keep carbon dioxide levels down. Many scientists believe that the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere must stay below 350 ppm (parts per million) to keep the worst effects of global warming at bay. More than 4000 events were planned Saturday across 170 countries to call attention to the number: 350. The Daily Camera.

  • 80% of Chinese and Indian electricity comes from coal and they're not planning to reduce that figure anytime soon. There's a lot of coal left in the ground and it takes a lot of coal fired electricity to make a bicycle, wind turbine or to ship those solar panels to your trailer park

You'd be better off supporting cleaner coal research because that's what they'll be burning in China and India for the next 100 years whether you wave a sign or not

Do something that will actually make a difference

  • Dirty coal has got to go... and there's no such thing as clean coal.
