I love Willie's version of this, but cant find it anywhere on youtube!! It was on an old abum of his and it was a song that described my moms life. It struck me back then, and I like Tammys version too, but wish I could find Willys!
I can't believe after all the rare songs I have heard of her's I never heard this one, it must have been made in the late 60's early 70's from the feel. I agree she and Patsy were the best but I like Tammy's voice better because of the tear in it, and that was hard to say because I grew up in Patsy's hometown, and she was awesome.
I have listened to many a rare song by Tammy but this escaped me, it must be one she did back in the 60's, or early 70's, that is the period I loved of hers the most but I loved her voice throughout, because of that tear in it, you are right both Tammy and Patsy were the best in their time, but even though I grew up in Patsy's hometown, I love Tammy's voice the best.
When I heard the instrumentation in this song the first time (before I knew who wrote it) I thought to myself "this has a Willie feel to it" and I found out later that he had written it.
i just finished reading the biography by Tammy's daughter, Jackie. You are right. Tammy deserved so much better. I had no idea he made her suffer so much and am still quite sad about how he made sure she never escaped misery. R.I.P. angel, Tammy.
