I think Petty plays an E harp on this song. Watch the official video of the song (here on YouTube) and you can see his harmonica is labeled "E".

Can you tell me your tongue placement on the harmonica when you get to the third beat in the 5th verse, right before you go really low on the 2 blows??

I've been playing this song with an E harp for the first part and switching to an A for that section in the middle. The latter of the two has been giving me a bit of trouble, particially because I'm apparently not cordinated enough to switch harmonicas half way through a song while keeping up on guitar.
Thanks for providing instructions on an alternative method!

It's important to note that although I usually play the song in the key of G, petty plays it in the key of E, and apparently plays a A harp in the cross position. This video is to play the song in the key of g and play a G harp in the straight position.
