@EmelyanovYury @ EmelyanovYury you raise some good points about needing some expertises to assess vocal techniques, But I offer two cautions

1) if it sounds good then it's a fair bet its probably is quite good. We can all distinguish a novice violinist from a professional, so I need no formal training, to know she sings a whole lot better than Lady Gaga - LOL

2) she outsells most opera stars, and whilst that may be regretable, take care not to to hold your fellow man in too low a contempt.

@bi1iruben Повторяю, для дилетантов: чтобы анализировать, - необходимо знать объективные критерии, а не субъективные эмоционально-интуитивные умозаключения на уровне: "мне нравиться, а мне не нравиться!.." @EmelyanovYury I beg to differ - I've yet to hear Callas recording that was not thin & weak compared to many modern singers (eg Elina Garanca). Sissel is not an opera singer (any more than Katherien Jenkins, and I know who I prefer) but soprano with far wider range of styles than most opera singers. She hasn't Callas's airs, nor Sarah Brightman's pretentiousness.

re vibrato: too often overused & masks imperfections of pitch & tone control, Sissel's pure voice wins out (IMHO)
