Aye mere watan ke logo, was written by Hindi Poet Pradeep during India-China war (1962-1963) and vande mataram was given the status of National Song in 1947. So, there is no doubt that Aye mere watan ke Logo, sung by Lataji was supposed to be our national song. That is just a National Patriotic Song and not a National Song.

this was suppose to be the national song of india, but due to mahatama gandhi in an attempt to please muslims, he banned this song from singing at public place and adopted jana gana mana as national song.
