In this review I pit the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 and Evernote against the NeatDesk (NeatReceipts) Scanner from Neat Co. running their NeatWorks Software.

  • No the S1500 does not do any calculations. But I was able to get the NeatWorks software to integrate with the S1500 by importing them into Neatworks after the scan.

  • DO NOT TRUST NEATWORKS COMPANY!

used this scanner for 2 years and made multiple backups of all my database images. Upon upgrading from Neatworks 4 to 5 I discovered that the software has been making faulty backups for 2 years now. Called the company they could only unlock 1 out of 10 images in all 4 of my saved backups, that were made using their software. I've lost all my data forever because of this company's lousy software. Don't use proprietary software to save your sensitive data.

  • So which one is better?

  • Thanks for the review. Very helpful.

  • Is the Fujitsu S1500 able to export receipts into Quicken? While I love the idea of being able to scan into Evernote, I also would like to be able to scan into Quicken, as I use both programs and can't live without either one.

  • Great review. Thanks so much. You helped me make my decision by pointing out some aspects of each scanner that I hadn't seen prior to viewing your video.

  • Nice work on the review. I wanted to see how the neat scanner & software performed before buying. Thanks!!

  • You are AWESOME!! :) THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)

  • I'm wanting to get something like this for my Mom to help her out shes not very computer savvy, which one would you suggest for basic home office use?

  • Good info but I am looking for a scanner and system that will scann 8 1/2" x 11" documents and put in digital folders by name. I need to be able to "edit" the documents in Micro Soft Word (or the software that comes with the scanner) when I pull them up before printing out.

  • @an50331 not sure how well it does with text but I figured since evernote works super great with text, Neatwork would do better.
