On Sunday, June 27, 2010, I swam the Défi Monte Cristo, a 5K open water race in Marseille, France.
I did the same swim two years ago - with fins - and finished in 1h38m. This year's race was more challenging because I swam without fins and without as much training. I was also using my Liquid Image camera goggles for the first time and I swallowed too much oil-flavored water at the beginning of the race. It took me 2h13m to swim from the Chatêau d'If to the Plage de Prado, which felt kind of long but was well worth it.
I made two videos of my swim: this shorter artistic interpretation using music by Satie and then a longer documentary interpretation (also available on my YouTube channel).
I have lots of ideas for improving my video next year at the Défi Monte Cristo 2011.
Awesome, Katie! You are amazing. (I dig both musical versions. This one is more French....the other is hipper!) Steve Heitzer
